Chicago, IL
Megan Lane is a strategic data fellow with Chicago Public Schools. At CPS, Megan is leading various projects in the Talent Office, including understanding substitute fill rates, analyzing teacher hiring patterns, and developing Educator Preparation Scorecards. These projects will ultimately result in policy recommendations to help CPS meet strategic goals in these areas. Prior to the fellowship, Megan was a doctoral student at the University of Florida and the co-founder/co-director of Boulware Springs Charter School in Gainesville, FL. Her doctoral work consisted of research on school reform initiatives, including school finance, charter schools, and education policy. Her work at the charter school consisted of leading a team of teachers and staff to serve 166 students in a high-need area, utilizing innovative and research-based programs.
Before working and completing her doctoral degree, Megan received her masters degree in International Education Policy at Vanderbilt University and taught in the U.S., Spain, and Namibia. She has worked on several major research projects investigating topics such as phonemic awareness and health literacy. Her interest in education and data-driven decision making stems from her early work as an alternatively certified high school teacher and the disparity in educational outcomes within her hometown.
